In their own words

The world is my oyster.

A recently and happily retired language teacher and educational administrator, I live very near the Pacific Ocean and enjoy life. I lived for 2 years in Ankara and I still cook Turkish food (though also general Mediterranean and Chinese) and love Turkish music. My Turkish language is a bit rusty now but I used to speak it fairly well. I have also lived in Italy, France and Greece. I am truly international-minded and would love to meet an intelligent, easy-going, affectionate man who also considers the world his oyster.

Insights
When raising a family, how important is it that your kids learn to speak Turkish?
Not an issue at my age. However, I would have insisted on it if I had had children with a Turkish man.
Describe the perfect evening.
Just the two of us dining out, maybe dancing. Or just the two of us at home, cooking together or just me cooking, good meal, good film, good conversation, affection.
Describe your perfect weekend.
I like to stay at home and entertain sometimes. Otherwise, classical concerts, international music/dance festivals, diniing out, beach picnics with friends.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes, but it probably is just hormones and doesn't last. On the other hand, who is to say it is not love just because it doesn't last?
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
Universl and GOOD health care for all. Education for all.
What is the most important lesson that you've learned?
I remember them well.
What do your friends like about you most?
I listen to all their problems with a sympathetic ear and rarely bother them with my problems. I feed them good food and give them a glass of wine. I am usually cheerful.
What do your friends tease you about the most?
Liking to cook ("What an UN-intellectual, time-wasting activity!") Being pragmatic. Loving expensive earrings.
What gets on your nerves?
Lateness. Hyper-active "A"-type personalities. Picky eaters and vegetarians. People who come to visit without calling first.
What is the most important thing in a relationship?
Being easy-going and accepting of each other's little faults with a sense of humor. Dependability and trust. Honesty.
What's the best age to get married?
Any time you meet the right person.
What turns you off?
Deliberate ignorance. Discourtesy. Loudness.
What turns you on?
Bedroom eyes. A deep voice. Slow, easy walk and gestures. Intelligence.
What do you hope to be doing five years from now?
Just as I am....retired and enjoying each day, though perhaps with a loving companion.
